N.Y. Fugitive Arrested in Hellertown, Police Say

Hellertown Police say Babatunji K. Wilson, 26, of Bronx, N.Y., was wanted on warrants in New Jersey and Pennsylvania at the time of his arrest early Wednesday at Cherry Lane and Main Street.

A New York man wanted on charges that range from aggravated assault on a police officer to robbery to theft of services was arrested early Wednesday in Hellertown, police announced in a news release.

Hellertown Police say Babatunji K. Wilson, 26, of the 2100 block of Bathgate Drive, Bronx, N.Y., was a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation at Cherry Lane and Main Street at 2:53 a.m.

At that time, police say Wilson was identified and it was discovered that he was wanted on multiple warrants from Pennsylvania and New Jersey.

"Warrants associated with [Wilson] included aggravated assault on a police officer, robbery, resisting arrest, eluding, and theft of services," as well as felony theft by deception, police said.

After he was arrested, Wilson was committed to Northampton County Prison, according to police.
