Motorcyclist Caused Rt. 378 Accident, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say Wayne J. Hildebrand Jr. of Bethlehem caused an accident when he attempted to pass another vehicle at Route 378 and West Raders Lane.

A Bethlehem motorcyclist who allegedly caused an accident when he attempted to pass a vehicle on Route 378 will be cited for "Overtaking a Vehicle on the Left," according to Lower Saucon Township Police.

In a news release, police said Wayne J. Hildebrand Jr., of the 2000 block of Westgate Drive, collided with a vehicle driven by a Freemansburg man that was attempted to turn left onto West Raders Lane.

"(Hildebrand) struck the driver side of the (other vehicle) while he was attempting to pass on the left side of the vehicle," police said.

Police said the accident happened at 4:55 a.m. July 9.

Hildebrand was taken to St. Luke's University Hospital with minor injuries and Se-Wy-Co Fire Co. assisted with cleanup and traffic control at the scene, the press release indicated.
