An alleged meth lab in downtown Hellertown was discovered when borough police executed several search warrants in the 400 and 500 blocks of Main Street Tuesday morning, according to a report published by Channel 69 on WFMZ.com.
A meth lab is a facility used to manufacture the illegal drug methamphetamine.
Meth labs can pose a risk to their surroundings because of the potential for combustion to occur as chemicals are combined during the drug manufacturing process.
Three people were taken into custody, Route 412 in Hellertown was closed for 30 minutes and police kept people out of the area while they removed contents from the alleged lab, although the area is now considered safe, the report indicated.
