Men Arrested for Attempted Theft from Former Pathmark Store

Lower Saucon Township police say Chuck Vanhorn, of Bethlehem, and Mike Vanhorn, of Easton, attempted to remove metal shelving from the vacant supermarket on Route 378.

Two men recently attempted to remove metal shelving from the now-vacant Pathmark supermarket in the Saucon Valley Square shopping center on Route 378, Lower Saucon Township police said in a news release issued Thursday.

According to police, on April 26 at about 6:24am, Chuck Vanhorn, of 523 N. Bishopthorpe St., Bethlehem, and Mike Vanhorn, of 743 Wolf Ave., Easton, were observed removing metal shelving from the store, which closed earlier this month.

Police said the men were taking the metal shelving "to be scrapped" and were loading it into their truck when they were confronted by an employee of the equipment removal company Minco, which is based in Oklahoma.

Police said the employee ordered the men to return the shelving to the store, which they did.

However, they "taunted (the) victim upon leaving," at which point the employee called police, according to the news release.
