Man Who Allegedly Passed Fake Bills at Snack Stand Charged

Hellertown Police say a man passed counterfeit bills at the Dimmick Park snack stand.

Hellertown police have announced charges against a Bethlehem man accused of passing counterfeit bills at the Dimmick Park snack stand.

Police said Jose Lugardo, 31, of the 1400 block of E. Eighth Street, has been charged with counterfeiting, theft by deception and receiving stolen property.

Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp said in July that a suspected counterfeiter had been identified thanks to the work of Officer Carl Fischer.

Since counterfeiting is a federal offense, the case was handed over to the U.S. Secret Service for prosecution, Shupp said at the time.
