Man Who Allegedly Faked Seizure Charged With DUI, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township police say a 24-year-old Allentown man who allegedly faked a seizure and banged his head on a window while seated in a police car after he was placed under arrest for suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol has been charged with DUI and "multiple traffic offenses."

In a news release, police said Mark Matthew Adams, of the 500 block of E. Tioga St., was initially encountered early on the morning of Dec. 28 in a vehicle that was stopped with its hazard lights blinking on Route 378 near Raders Lane West.

Police said Adams told officers "he had just left Revolutions and was driving northbound when his hood opened and hit the windshield."

According to police, the officers then attempted to administer field sobriety tests to Adams, but had to stop because he was not able to follow directions, and his lack of balance and proximity to traffic was causing a dangerous situation.

Ultimately, police said, Adams was arrested and caused a ruckus after he was placed in the back of a patrol car, where he also allegedly banged his head on the seat and partition and spat several times.

Police said Adams was driving without insurance, driving with a registration plate that belonged to a different vehicle and driving on a suspended license.

Later, after he was released from Lower Saucon Township police custody at St. Luke's University Hospital in Fountain Hill, police said Adams was arrested by Fountain Hill borough police for allegedly "yelling profanities after repeatedly being told to stop."
