Man Was Drunk When He Caused Accident, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say Luis Torres, 39, of Coplay, was driving while under the influence when he caused an accident at Friedensville and Meadows roads.

A Coplay man was driving while under the influence of alcohol when he caused an accident at Friedensville and Meadows roads, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release.

According to police, Luis Torres, 39, of the 4000 block of Hemlock Drive, collided with a car operated by a 17-year-old boy after he "pulled out into oncoming traffic" at 10:23 p.m. June 1.

Police said that although "no one was severely injured" in the accident, both cars had to be towed from the scene.

Torres failed field sobriety tests and his blood alcohol content was determined to be .10 percent following the accident, police said, adding that he was arrested for DUI.
