Man Struck Employee Inside Supermarket, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township police say Shawn T. Phillips, of Coke Works Road, Bethlehem, struck Giant Food Store employee Luis Torres in the store's seafood department May 27.

A physical altercation occurred when a Bethlehem man came looking for a employee inside the Leithsville Road store on May 27, Lower Saucon Township police said in a press release Thursday.

According to the press release, Shawn T. Phillips, of the 2100 block of Coke Works Road, Bethlehem, came looking for Luis Torres, of the 700 block of East Fifth Street, Bethlehem, at about 4:50pm.

"Phillips found Torres working in the seafood department and an argument ensued," police said.

"During the exchange, Torres was struck in the face by Phillips, who then fled the scene on foot," they added.

Phillips was later located by police and was cited for harassment and disorderly conduct. He was also banned from the store, police said.
