An 11-year-old girl who was left in the car while her mother shopped at Giant Food Store, 1880 Leithsville Road, was approached by a man who tried to engage her attention through the car window, according to Lower Saucon Township police.

An 11-year-old girl who was left in the car while her mother shopped at Giant Food Store, 1880 Leithsville Road, was approached by a man who tried to engage her attention through the car window, Lower Saucon Township Police said in a news release Thursday.

According to police, the man approached the car "and was playing games with [the girl] through the window" while her mother was in the store.

Police said the girl's mother, who is a township resident, notified them of the incident when her daughter told her about it.

"The man was described as a white male with a red shirt, jeans and red baseball cap with black-rimmed glasses," police said.

The incident reportedly took place about 7:45 a.m. Tuesday, although police noted in their press release that they were unable to identify a man matching the description of the man seen in their review of parking lot surveillance footage.

Anyone with information about the man's identity or what took place—which police said they are investigating as suspicious activity—is asked to call the Lower Saucon Township Police Department at 610-317-6110.
