Man OD'ed on Heroin, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say Jeffrey Niess, of the 2200 block of Leithsville Road, overdosed on heroin on Oct. 20, 2012.

A township man who allegedly overdosed on heroin in October now faces charges related to the incident, according to the Lower Saucon Police Department.

In a press release issued Saturday, police said Jeffrey Niess, of the 2200 block of Leithsville Road, took the drug Oct. 20.

At 9:22am officers were dispatched to Niess' home "for an overdose," and he was subsequently taken to St. Luke's University Hospital for treatment, according to the press release.

Police said that inside Niess' home they found marijuana, controlled substances and drug paraphernalia.

Niess faces various charges of possession related to the alleged discovery of those items, according to authorities.
