Man, Guilty of Child Sex Assault, Headed to State Prison

Vincent Arnold, of Hellertown, was sentenced to two-and-a-half to five years in state prison for sexually assaulting a boy in Lower Saucon Township.

A Saucon Valley man who in March admitted to repeatedly sexually assaulting a Lower Saucon Township boy has been sentenced to two-and-a-half to five years in state prison, the Morning Call reported Aug. 3.

Vincent J. Arnold, of Hellertown, will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life as a term of his negotiated sentence, the story indicated.

Arnold, who was a teen when the assaults occurred,  with 50 counts each of indecent assault, aggravated indecent assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and rape.

The paper reported that Arnold was also previously adjudicated delinquent in juvenile court for sexually assaulting a seven-year-old girl.

An adjudication of delinquency is the juvenile court equivalent of being found guilty.

The Morning Call also reported that Arnold's defense attorney claimed that his client was sexually abused as a child.

In a statement read in court, the boy Arnold victimized said he felt "helpless" and "very scared" at the time of the assaults, and now feels "ashamed" by what happened to him, according to the article.

Arnold told the court that he was sorry for what happened, the story indicated.
