Man Cursed at Firefighters Battling Blaze on His Property, Police Say

William Broad, of 4303 Lower Saucon Road, was charged with disorderly conduct after he allegedly ordered both firefighters and police off his property as they attempted to contain a fire.

A Lower Saucon Township man who police say violated a burning ban by starting what became an out-of-control fire on his property early Saturday allegedly shouted obscenities at volunteer firefighters who came to battle the blaze and keep it from spreading to neighbors' property.

According to a police news release, William Broad, of 4303 Lower Saucon Road, was charged with disorderly conduct after ordering both firefighters and police off his property while "yelling and screaming at firefighters and neighbors."

Police said the fire ignited a wood pile and ultimately burned down a fence.

They said Broad was also cited for an ordinance violation for allegedly starting the fire.
