Man Arrested for DUI on Connecting Drive
On Aug. 19 at 4:55pm police say Raul Ortiz-Ortiz, of the 700 block of East Fourth Street, Bethlehem, was stopped on Connecting Drive after he allegedly failed to stop at a stop sign. Police said Ortiz-Ortiz was subsequently determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance and was arrested for DUI.
Man Arrested for DUI at Friedensville Road DUI Checkpoint
On Sept. 15 at 2:37am police say Keith R. Appel, 45, of the 800 block of Maple Road, Hellertown, was operating a Chevy truck when he was stopped at a DUI checkpoint in the 1800 block of Friedensville Road. Police said in a press release that Apple "displayed a moderate odor of alcohol while speaking with the contact officer" and allegedly "admitted to consuming 'a few' alcoholic beverages prior to driving." Police said Appel was arrested after he demonstrated impairment during a field sobriety test, and added that he was later determined to have a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .23 percent. Appel is to be charged with DUI, police said.
Cell Phone Reported Stolen from Car Parked at Dollar Store
On Sept. 20 police say Travis Warel, of the 1900 block of Leithsville Road, Lower Saucon Township, reported that his cell phone was stolen from his car while it was parked at the Dollar Tree store on Rt. 412. Poilce said in a press release that Warel's phone was left on the passenger seat of his vehicle with the door unlocked and the window open. When he returned to his car, police said the phone was missing.
Sofa Illegally Dumped in the Narrows, Police Say
Sometime prior to Sept. 20 police say a sofa was illegally dumped in the Narrows section of Riverside Drive. Anyone with information about the dumping is asked to call Lower Saucon Township Police at 610-317-6110.
Power Tools Stolen from Viola Lane Garage, Police Say
On Sept. 20 at 1:05pm police say they received a report of a burglary in the 1800 block of Viola Lane. In a press release police said power tools were stolen from a garage. The theft is believed to have occurred sometime between 9pm Sunday, Sept. 16 and 9:30am Monday, Sept. 17. Anyone with information about the theft of the tools is asked to call Lower Saucon Township Police.
Mailbox Damaged on Kevin Drive
On Sept. 27 sometime between 1am and 8am police say a mailbox in the 1600 block of Kevin Drive was damaged. In a press release, police characterized the incident as criminal mischief and said the damage to the mailbox is estimated at $400. Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Lower Saucon Township Police, who are continuing to investigate it.
