Man Arrested for DUI at Hickory Hill Road and Pleasant Drive

On Sept. 30 at 1:20am police say James Murphy, of the first block of Baker Lane, East Haddam, Conn., was stopped at Hickory Hill Road and Pleasant Drive after he was allegedly observed traveling at a high rate of speed on Hickory Hill. Police said in a press release that Murphy--who they identified as a Lehigh University student--was "also seen crossing the center line." After he was stopped police say officers determined that Murphy may have consumed alcohol. After he failed field sobriety tests, police said Murphy was arrested for DUI. He was determined to have a blood alcohol content of .11 percent, they added.

On Nov. 24 at 2:37am police say Robert George Jr., of the 500 block of Liberty Street, Emmaus, was stopped by officers who were part of a roving DUI patrol. Police said in a press release that George was stopped at Old Philadelphia Pike and Stonesthrow Road after he was observed traveling with his high-beam headlights activated on Route 378. Following the stop, authorities say George exhibited signs of alcohol consumption and failed field sobriety tests. George, who was arrested for DUI, was determined to have a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .12 percent, police said.

Man Struck Another Vehicle and Left Scene, Police Say

On Dec. 18 at 7pm police say Kalman Franco, of the 500 block of North Bishopthorpe Street, Fountain Hill, failed to give information and render aid after he struck another vehicle at Fire Lane and Black River Road. Police said in a press release that Franco rear-ended the other vehicle and then left the scene. They characterized the incident as a hit-and-run accident.

Police Investigating Illegal Dumping Incident on Fahs Lane

On the afternoon of Dec. 19 police say trash and household waste was discovered illegally dumped on Fahs Lane, off Redington Road. Police said in a press release that the dumped items may have come from a vacant home in the 600 block of Main Street, Stockertown. Police said that house was "cleaned out." They added that the dumping incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information about it is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Township Police Department at 610-317-6110.
