Decorated Christmas Trees Stolen Off Deck, Police Say

Early on the morning of Dec. 7 police say two 4-foot tall decorated Christmas trees valued at approximately $100 were stolen from inside the enclosed deck of a residence in the 2300 block of Black River Road. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Police Department at 610-317-6110.

Man Arrested for DUI Caught Cops' Attention By 'Taking His Slice Out of the Middle'

On Dec. 11 at 2:18am police say Nicholas Novak, of the 300 block of Stonehenge Drive, Phillipsburg, N.J., was observed traveling at approximately 55mph in a 40mph zone on Flint Hill Road near Scenic View Lane. Novak was also observed "driving over center line, or, as (Novak) put it, 'taking his slice out of the middle,'" police said in a Dec. 15 press release. After Novak was stopped, police say the odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected and he subsequently failed field sobriety tests. Novak was arrested for DUI and later was determined to have a blood alcohol concentration of .21 percent, as well as a suspended New Jersey driver's license, police said.

Woman Cited Following Accident at Flint Hill Road and Route 412

On Dec. 11 at 12:50pm police say Bonita J. Eidson, of Rosemore Drive, Chalfont, was at the stop sign at Flint Hill Road and Route 412 when she "pulled onto 412 from Flint Hill before it was safe to do so." In a press release, police said Eidson pulled out in front of a vehicle driven by Nichole Donatelli-Medei of Hellertown. "Donatelli-Medei...then struck the passenger side rear of Eidson's vehicle," police said. There were no injuries as a result of the accident and both vehicles were able to be driven from the scene, they added. Eidson was issued a citation for "Duties Entering or Crossing an Intersection," police said.

Police: Man Sped While Intoxicated, Drove Home When Emergency Lights Were Activated

On Dec. 12 at 12:57am police say Nicholas D. Heyer, of the 1400 block of Willowbrook Drive, Lower Saucon Township, was timed traveling at 67mph in a 40mph zone on Black River Road. Police say Heyer "failed to slow or stop in response to emergency lights" and drove to his residence, where he "immediately exited his vehicle." According to a police department press release, Heyer was then ordered to return to his vehicle, where officers made contact with him. At that time, police say "an odor of alcohol was detected." Heyer subsequently failed field sobriety tests and was arrested for DUI, they added. Heyer's blood alcohol concentration was determined to be .16 percent, police said.

High School Student Punched Other Student in Face, Police Say

On Dec. 15 at about 7:35am police say a 16-year-old male student at  entered the school and punched another student in the face before the start of homeroom. The 16-year-old was cited for disorderly conduct and harassment, police said.

Student Cited for Allegedly Smoking "Spice" on School Bus

On the afternoon of Dec. 15 police say they cited a 16-year-old male student from Lower Saucon Township for allegedly smoking "spice" (a type of synthetic marijuana) on a school bus that morning. Police said they were advised of the alleged offense by Saucon Valley High School administrators. The student was cited for "Use of Tobacco in Schools Prohibited," police said.
