Man Charged With DUI-Controlled Substance

On May 4 at 12:34pm police say Grant Michener, 27, of the 1600 block of Orchard Road, Lower Saucon, was driving on Rt. 378 near Walter Street when he struck a guide rail and trees, rolling his car. Michener was subsequently taken to St. Luke's University Hospital for treatment of injuries. Police said it was later determined that Michener was operating his vehicle while under the influence of a controlled substance, for which he has been charged by summons.

On June 30 at 12:02am police say Todd Seidel, of the 400 block of Green Street, Silverdale, was stopped on Rt. 378 for traffic violations. Police said in a press release that Seidel was subsequently found to be under the influence of alcohol, and driving a vehicle that was not equipped with an ignition interlock system. That system was required because Seidel's license was limited due to prior DUI convictions, police said. Seidel's blood alcohol content (BAC) was determined to be .11 percent and he has been charged with DUI, according to police.

On July 19 at 11:30pm police say Jennifer Jacob-Freese, of the 500 block of Headquarters Road, Erwinna, was eastbound on Springtown Hill Road when her vehicle started to slide as shed rounded a curve. Police said the roadway was wet at the time, and that Jacob-Freese's car ended up in a ditch. There were no injuries reported, they added. Jacob-Freese will be cited for driving too fast for conditions, police said.

Man Allegedly Perpetrated iPhone Scam Via Craigslist

On July 19 police say Tanya Freed, of the 200 block of Messinger Street, Bangor, met Corey Marvin Johnson, of the 1100 block of West Linden Street, Allentown, to purchase an Apple iPhone that Johnson had advertised for $200 on Craigslist. Police said the two met for the transaction at the Saucon Square shopping center on Rt. 378. "Johnson told the victim that the phone was his and that she would be able to activate it," police said in a press release. However, "after purchasing (the) phone it was learned that the phone belonged to someone other than (Johnson) and the victim could not activate it," they added. Johnson has been charged with theft, police said.

Police: Man Crashed Car on Apple Street, Left Scene of Accident

On July 20 at approximately 12:30am police say Joseph Frey, of the 2200 block of Marlin Road, Lower Saucon, was eastbound on Apple Street when his vehicle left the roadway and went onto grass in front of a home. Police said in a press release that Frey "continued through the front yard, struck a steel mailbox and then struck a parked vehicle in the driveway at that home, pushing the vehicle approximately four feet sideways." Police said Frey subsequently left the scene of the accident "and drove his vehicle back to his residence, where he then waited eight hours before reporting to police instead of reporting (the accident) at the scene as required." Police said Frey has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage and damage to an unattendend vehicle.
