Student Charged with Theft at Saucon Valley High School

On Oct. 5 police say they were called to for a report of a theft. According to police, a pair of UGG boots and a pair of earrings were stolen from the girls locker room next to the gym. An investigation into the theft led authorities to file charges of theft and receiving stolen property against a 15-year-old female student, police said in a Nov. 7 press release. According to the release, "the (stolen) items were recovered when the female charged was found wearing both items."

Police: Man Drove Drunk at 81mph on Route 378

On Oct. 28 at 11:48pm police say Michael J. Usino, 28, of the first block of West Rambo Street, Bridgeport, Pa., was stopped for allegedly speeding at 81mph in a posted 40mph zone on Route 378. Police say Usino, who was stopped near the I-78 overpass, was determined to have a blood alcohol concentration of .18 percent and was arrested for DUI.

Man Entered Opposite Lane of Travel While Driving Drunk, Police Say

On Oct. 29 at 1:56am police say Edward Hynes IV, 53, of the 6400 block of Eichler Circle, Upper Saucon Township, was stopped for allegedly crossing over the double yellow line and entering the northbound lane of travel while traveling south on Route 378. Hynes was stopped south of Walter Street and was determined to be driving under the influence with a blood alcohol concentration of .14 percent, police said. Hynes was arrested for DUI and transported to the Bethlehem DUI Center for processing, they added.

Police: Man Assaulted Father

On Nov. 1 at approximately 4:12pm police say Jacob Charles Farley, of the 3200 block of Bingen Road, Lower Saucon, assaulted his father. Police said they were dispatched to Jacob Farley's residence "for a domestic fight" and "arrived to find the father bleeding from the mouth." Jacob Farley was taken into custody on a charge of simple assault and for an outstanding parole violation, police said.

Police Investigating Theft on Arden Lane

On Nov. 4 between noon and 4pm police say someone took wood that was cut and stacked on the edge of a property in the 1700 block of Arden Lane. Anyone with information about this theft is asked to contac the Lower Saucon Police Department.

Man Cited for Allegedly Violating Township's Burning Ordinance

On Nov. 5 at 7:53pm police say they were dispatched to the 4300 block of Lower Saucon Road for an open burning complaint. According to a police department press release, "upon officers arriving on location large amounts of smoke were observed" coming from the home of William George Broad Jr., 47, who . On Nov. 5 the smoke from Broad's property was "coming across the street into a neighbor's home" and Broad will receive a citation for the alleged incident under the township's Health and Nuisance Ordinance, police said.

Woman Possessed Syringes Used for Heroin, Police Say

On Nov. 8 police charged Lauren Emma Harpster, of the 1700 block of Deer Run Road, Lower Saucon Township, with possession of drug paraphernalia. According to police, Harpster was charged after she was found to be "in possession of used syringes used with heroin."

Police Investigating Theft of Cell Phone from Restaurant

On the evening of Nov. 8 police say a Samsung Galaxy S2 cell phone belonging to Christopher Petruno, of Hellertown, was stolen off a table at Starters Bar & Grille on Route 378 in Lower Saucon Township. Anyone with information regarding this theft is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Police Department.

Police Investigating Criminal Mischief Incident on Moravia Street

On Nov. 8, sometime after 11pm, police say someone let the air out of the passenger side tires of a vehicle parked in the 900 block of Moravia Street. "Actors also made long scratches in the side of the vehicle with an unknown object, causing about $400 in damage," police said. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the Lower Saucon Police Department.
