The following incidents have been reported by the Lower Saucon Township Police Department:

Police Investigating Damage to Mailboxes on Springtown Hill Road

According to police, on Aug. 6 at 4:15pm, a small, dark pickup truck traveling toward Hellertown "with junk on the back" smashed into two mailboxes in the 2000 block of Springtown Hill Road. "The small dark truck should have damage to the right side headlight and blinker," police said. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contac the Lower Saucon Police Department.

Teens Charged with Paraphernalia Possession Near High School

On Aug. 7, shortly after 9pm, police charged a 17-year-old juvenile female from Hellertown with possession of drug paraphernalia, after stopping her on Reservoir Road near Saucon Valley High School. Also charged at that time was Daniel Comiskey, 19, of Hellertown. Police said Comiskey was charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

Township Man Rolled Car on Polk Valley Road, Police Say

On Aug. 15 at 3:17pm police say Jacob Paul Newhard, of the 2600 block of Martins Lane, Lower Saucon, was charged with operating a vehicle at an unsafe speed for conditions. Police said Newhard was charged after he lost control of his vehicle on Polk Valley Road near Saucon Valley High School. According to police, Newhard's vehicle "rolled...several times, coming to rest in the SVHS football practice field." The field was not being used at the time, and Newhard was taken to St. Luke's Hospital for observation, police said.

Police Investigating Car Accident in Giant Parking Lot

Police say that on Aug. 18 at approximately 6:47pm the driver of what appeared to be a white Chrysler minivan struck an unattended vehicle in the parking lot of the Giant Food Store in the Creekside Marketplace shopping center on Rt. 412. The driver did not contact store management or police, but shopped in the store before leaving the area, police said. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Lower Saucon Township Police at 610-317-6110.

Police Investigating Copper Wire Theft

Lower Saucon police are currently seeking information regarding the theft of approximately 1,000 feet of #2 copper wire from PPL utility poles between Broadhead Court and 1219 Seidersville Road. The theft was reported to the police department Aug. 19, and probably occurred sometime during the two weeks prior, police said. The person or persons responsible for stealing the wire "would have needed a very long ladder or bucket truck" in order to reach it, police indicated in a press release. The wire is reportedly valued at $1,000. Anyone with information regarding its theft is asked to contact Lower Saucon police at 610-317-6110.

Woman Stole Two Flashlights, Police Say

When a woman attending an Aug. 22 evening gathering in the 1900 block of Dartford Road told her host she was going to take a flashlight, he told her he would call police if she did. Police say Melynda Morrison, of the 1500 block of Mineral Spring Road, Reading, did in fact take two flashlights, and the owner subsequently contacted police. Morrison will receive a citation for theft, police said.

Pink Bicycle Found at Steel City Playground; Police Seek Owner

A pink toddler-sized bicycle was found at the on Aug. 23 at about 7am, police said. Anyone who may have lost a bike matching this description may contact the Lower Saucon Police Department for further information. The bike will be secured at the police department until it is claimed by its owner, police said.

Police Investigating Hit-and-Run at Riverside and Adams

On Aug. 24 at 7:53am police say a hit-and-run accident at Riverside Drive and Adams Avenue in Steel City was reported. According to police, a resident reported seeing a red flatbed truck carrying a large amount of steel strike a stop sign as it turned from Adams onto Riverside. "The operator...jumped out of the vehicle and quickly bent the sign back into place and continued to leave," police said. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to contact Lower Saucon police at 610-317-6110.
