Hellertown Police Dept. to Hire New Part-Time Officer

Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp received permission from borough council Monday to proceed with the hiring of a part-time police officer.

Hellertown Police Chief Robert Shupp received permission from borough council Monday to proceed with the hiring of a part-time police officer.

Shupp said another part-timer is needed, because the department will be losing one of its four current part-time officers in January and he wants to keep staffing at its current level.

In response to a question from councilman Mike McKenna, Shupp said he didn't yet have a candidate for the position, but has numerous applications to look through.
