Man Arrested for DUI on Walnut Street

On June 9 at 1:14am police say Jeffrey Raymond Hinkle, 46, of the 200 block of Durham Street, Hellertown, was stopped on Walnut Street for a traffic violation. Police said in a press release that Hinkle was found to be under the influence of alcohol. His blood alcohol content (BAC) was determined to be .15 percent, they added. Hinkle has been charged with DUI.

Man Failed to Stop, Threw Contraband Out Car Window, Police Say

On June 21 at 6:15am police say Joseph Carl Pierce, 47, of the 700 block of Front St., Hellertown, was observed driving a vehicle on Front Street. Police said in a press release that it was known that Pierce's license was suspended for a prior DUI conviction. "As (Pierce) was being followed by Hellertown Police with activated lights and siren, (he) failed to pull his vehicle over, and threw contraband out the window," police said. Pierce was followed from Front Street onto Water Street/Friedensville Road, they added. After Pierce was stopped, multiple vehicle violations were discovered, according to the press release. Pierce has been charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence, driving under suspension (DUI-related), littering, duty of driver upon approach of emergency vehicle, expired inspection, expired emissions, and unlawful activities, according to police.

Patio Furniture Reported Stolen on Rentzheimer Drive

On June 21 at 7:08am police say they received a report of stolen patio furniture in the 500 block of Rentzheimer Drive. Police said the theft occurred between 5pm on June 20 and the time it was reported. Anyone with information about this matter is asked to contact Hellertown police.

Police Investigating Broken Windows at

On June 22 police say they received a report of criminal mischief at Britt's Tire Service, 934 Main St. Police said in a press release that five windows on the north and east sides of the building were reported to have broken. The windows may have been broken with pellets, police said. Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact the at 610-838-7040.

Riegelsville Man Found With Glass Crack Pipe at Car Wash, Police Say

On June 25 at 1:01am police say an officer on routine patrol observed a black Nissan sedan parked in a wash bay at , Main Street and Magnolia Road. A man was observed seated inside the car, and when police stopped to investigate, they say he attempted to leave the scene. The man was subsequently identified as Jerid O'Neill, 39, of Riegelsville, police said. When questioned about why he was at the closed car wash, O'Neill "gave no legitimate reason," police said in a press release. A pat-down search of O'Neill led to the discovery of a glass crack pipe inside a cigarette pack, they added, and he was arrested for possession of drug paraphernalia. O'Neill was later released pending court action.

'Heavy Set' Man Possible Suspect in Lawnmower Theft

On June 25 police say a red Honda self-propelled lawnmower was reported stolen from a shed at 90 Main St. "A possible suspect is a 6'0" tall white 'heavy set' male with dirty blonde hair," police said in a press release. The lawn mower was stolen sometime between Saturday, June 23 and Monday, June 25, they added. Anyone with information about the theft is asked to contact the Hellertown Police Department.
