Police: Driver Was Drunk When He Caused Accident on Main Street

On July 21 at 3:53am police say Dustin C. Jaen, 40, of the 1100 block of Third Avenue, was driving under the influence of alcohol when he caused an accident on Main Street. Police said in a press release that Jaen was taken to the Bethlehem DUI Center for chemical testing. His blood alcohol content (BAC) was determined to be .13 percent, they added. Jaen has been charged with DUI, in addition to traffic violations, according to authorities.

On July 31 at 12:44am police say they stopped Amanda M. Bauder-Bowen, of the 100 block of Clearfield Street, Freemansburg, for a speeding violation at Main and Chestnut Streets. Police said in a press release that when an officer pulled Bauder-Bowen over near Roth Avenue and Main Street she struck the northbound curb as she stopped her car. Bauder-Bowen was subsequently arrested for DUI and was determined to have a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .13 percent, police said. She has been charged with DUI, careless driving and speeding, they added.

Police Investigating Assault on Oak Street

According to a police press release, an assault took place in the 1100 block of Oak Street during the early morning hours of Aug. 4. Police said that although the victim of the assault is "unknown at this time," they are investigating the incident. Anyone with information regarding the assault is asked to contact the Hellertown Police Department at 610-838-7040 or 610-759-2200.

Man Charged With Public Drunkenness After Allegedly Stumbing in Front of Police

On Aug. 4 at 12:36am police say Sean Boston, 24, of the 200 block of Main Street, Hellertown, was intoxicated when he stumbled into the street in front of police, who were in the 1100 block of Main at the time. Police said Boston then became disorderly with officers. He was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct and public drunkenness before being released, they said.

Police: Traffic Violation at Water and Main Led to Charges for Township Man

On Aug. 4 at 2:09am police say Samuel Gomes, 27, of the 1700 block of Wildberry Road, Lower Saucon Township, was observed by police committing a traffic violation at Water and Main streets. Gomes was then stopped at Front and Water streets, where police said it was discovered that he was operating the vehicle while his driving privileges were suspended. "(Gomes') vehicle was impounded and a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia were recovered from the vehicle," police said in a press release. Gomes is to be charged with possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Man's Alleged Screaming Attracts Attention of Police

On Aug. 4 at 3:01am police say officers responded to screams coming from the corner of Main and Water streets, which is opposite police headquarters. Responsible for the screaming, police said in a press release, was Joseph W. Paupst, 24, of the 1300 block of Highpoint Road, Springfield Township. Paupst was cited for public drunkenness as a result of the incident, police said.

Woman Arrested for Underage Drinking Following Alleged Disturbance

On Aug. 9 at 2:02am police say officers were dispatched to a third floor apartment at 425 Main Street for a report of a disturbance. Police said they investigated the incident and then cited Jacquelyn Pingyar, 19, of the 1400 block of East University Drive, Lower Saucon Township, for underage drinking.

Woman, Girl Cited for Harassment Following Alleged 'Shoving Match'

On Aug. 9 at 6:26pm police say officers were dispatched to Saucon Street for a report of a fight. Following an investigation, police said they cited Jennifer Bauer, 29, of the 100 block of Main Street, and a juvenile female for harassment. Police said Bauer and the girl had engaged in a "shoving match."

Woman Jailed for Allegedly Altering Vehicle Inspection Sticker

On Aug. 10 at 8:45pm police say Brooke Lynn Mahoney, 18, of the 900 block of Birch Road, Hellertown, was stopped for a traffic violation in the 400 block of Front Street. Police said in a press release that it was subsequently discovered that the inspection sticker on Mahoney's vehicle had been altered. Mahoney was arrested on a charge of "Altered, Forged or Counterfeit Documents and Plates" and was arraigned before District Judge John Capobianco, who committed her to Northampton County Prison in lieu of 10 percent of $5,000 bail, according to the press release.

Man Arrested for Public Drunkenness in 700 Block of Main Street

On Aug. 11 at 1:47am police say officers found Thomas Everett, 44, of the 200 block of Front Street, Hellertown, "highly intoxicated" in the 700 block of Main Street. Police said Everett was cited for public drunkenness.

Man Cited for Public Drunkenness in 1200 Block of New Jersey Avenue

On Aug. 12 at 2:47am police say officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of New Jersey Avenue for a report of "two suspicious persons possibly engaging in lewd acts." Police said that upon arrival, they found Justin H. Ziegler, 30, of the 1300 block of Jefferson Street, Hellertown, "highly intoxicated." Ziegler was cited for public drunkenness, police said. Another person was not intoxicated and was not charged with any violations but was told to leave the area, they added.
