The following incidents have been reported by the Hellertown Police Department:

Man Arrested for Alleged DUI on Main Street

  • On May 18 at 11:58pm police arrested Steven Zerfass, 50, of 729 Railroad St., Allentown, for DUI. According to police, Zerfass was arrested after an officer on duty was flagged down by a passing motorist. The motorist reportedly told the officer that a vehicle in front of him had been observed traveling south on Main Street at a high rate of speed. Police said the vehicle operated by Zerfass was a maroon Ford pickup truck, and that according to the motorist Zerfass "nearly struck numerous parked cars on Main Street as he traveled south." After police stopped Zerfass at Flint Hill Road and Route 412 in Lower Saucon Township, they said he was determined to have a blood alcohol concentration of .22 percent and was arrested for DUI and traffic violations.

Police Say Money, Other Items Taken from Bike Shop

  • Hellertown police are currently investigating a reported theft from , 824 Main St., Hellertown. According to police, an undetermined amount of cash and other items were taken from the business on May 26 at around 5pm, while employees were in the store helping customers. Anyone who may have been in the store at around that time, or anyone with other information about this incident is asked to contact the borough police department at 610-838-7040.

Bicycle Stolen from First Avenue, Police Say

  • Hellertown police say they are currently investigating the theft of a Haro men's BMX-style bicycle from 1020 First Avenue. The bike's value is estimated at $600 and it was reported stolen June 2, police said. Anyone with information about the bike is asked to contact the Hellertown Police Department.

Police Seeking Information about Criminal Mischief Incident in Fast Food Restaurant Bathroom
