Gas Stolen By Man Fixing Driveways for Cash, Police Say

Hellertown Police say a man who borrowed a gas can filled with gasoline never returned it to its owner. The man was repairing driveways for cash in the area of New Jersey Avenue.

Hellertown Police are investigating the theft of a gas can that was filled with gasoline, according to a press release.

Police said the gas can was stolen from a resident of the 1400 block of New Jersey Avenue by a man who was "going around the area resurfacing driveways for cash only."

The man told the can's owner he would return it, but never did, police say.

The man is described as white, and he was last seen driving a white pickup truck and a dark-colored car. The make and model of both vehicles is unknown, police said.

Police said the gas can was reported stolen on the afternoon of June 20.
