Hellertown police say four young men—including three from the Saucon Valley area—have been charged in connection with a vandalism spree that took place in early September.

In a news release issued Tuesday, police said John Tyler Mahoney, 21, of the 900 block of Birch Road, Hellertown; Thomas Edward Dooley Jr., 23, of the 1800 block of Amelia Court, Lower Saucon Township; Triston Loux-Schafer, 21, of the 2300 block of Ringhoffer Road, Lower Saucon Township, and Frank Torres, 21, of the 1600 block of Overing Street, Bronx, N.Y., have all been charged with criminal mischief.

Police said the men's alleged spree began Sept. 8, when numerous borough street signs were broken from their posts, resulting in more than $616 in damage.

On Sept. 9, police say, the men engaged in more vandalism in Dimmick Park, where they allegedly damaged an air conditioning unit and an aluminum downspout, resulting in about $2,200 in property damage.

Surveillance video recorded Mahoney and Torres allegedly damaging the air conditioner while Dooley and Loux-Schafer were present, police said in the news release.

In subsequent interviews, police said, Mahoney and Torres admitted to damaging the park property and street signs, and Dooley admitted to damaging the street signs.

"Loux-Schafer denied any involvement," but the three other men implicated him, police said.
