Former Borough Man Admits to Molesting Girl

Richard E. Novack, 46, of Frenchtown, N.J. was a Hellertown resident when he molested a girl for a year-and-a-half, beginning when the girl was 10.

A 46-year-old former resident of Hellertown admitted in Northampton County Court Tuesday to sexually molesting a young girl for a year-and-a-half, according to a story published by the Morning Call.

The molestation began when the girl was 10 with Richard E. Novack sneaking into her bedroom, and escalated to him rubbing her private areas, according to the report.

Novack's victim was in the courtroom when he admitted to a misdemeanor charge of corrupting a minor, and quietly wept when he confessed his actions before Judge Paula Roscioli, the newspaper account indicated.

Novack, who now lives in Frenchtown, N.J., accepted a plea bargain by which he will not have to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law.

His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 7.

Novack is eligible for a minimum sentence of probation to nine months as well as a maximum sentence of five years in prison, according to sentencing guidelines cited in the story.
