Drunken Man Who Didn't Call Taxi Arrested for DUI, Police Say
Lower Saucon Township Police say Michael A. Wambaugh, of the 500 block of Pawnee Street, Bethlehem, was arrested for DUI in the Starters Pub parking lot.
A Bethlehem man who was advised to call a taxi from a bar—because he was allegedly too intoxicated to drive—was arrested for DUI after he decided to get behind the wheel anyway, according to Lower Saucon Township Police.
In a news release, police said Michael A. Wambaugh, of the 500 block of Pawnee Street, was observed to be "under the influence of alcoholic beverages to the degree that he could be a danger to himself or others."
Police said that after Wambaugh was told to call a taxi, he ignored that advice and was stopped as he attempted to drive away from Starters Pub, 3731 Route 378.
Wambaugh was determined to have a blood-alcohol content (BAC) of .12 percent, and he was also cited for public drunkenness, authorities added.
