Driver Slid on Icy Patch on I-78, Police Say

A Bethlehem man driving east on I-78 in Lower Saucon Township slid on ice at about 8:10 a.m. Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast said in a news release.

A Bethlehem man who was driving east on Interstate 78 in Lower Saucon Township slid on ice at about 8:10 a.m. Thursday, Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast said in a news release.

According to police, the 27-year-old driver was near mile marker 70.9 when he braked and slid on the patch of ice.

Police said the man—who was driving a 2007 Chevy Cobalt—struck the center concrete barrier, over-corrected and then rolled his car onto its driver's side.

The car then slid for about 200 feet on its side before coming to a stop in the right eastbound lane.

Dewey EMS responded, although police indicated in the news release that the man was not injured.
