Driver Damaged Fire Hydrant, Police Say

An Allentown man is charged with leaving the scene of an accident, Lower Saucon Township Police said.

An Allentown man damaged a fire hydrant at Meadows Road and Meadows Ridge Court, and then left the scene without reporting the accident, Lower Saucon Township Police announced in a news release.

According to police, Jesse Charles Dematto, of the 200 block of E. Juniata Street, was driving when he struck the hydrant on the afternoon of July 28.

Dematto has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident and "Driving at Safe Speeds," police said.
