Connecticut School Shooting Horror and Heartbreak

Our nation is in mourning following a shooting rampage that killed 20 children and six adults at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut.

A gunman killed 20 children and six adults at an elementary school. He also killed his mother and himself Friday morning.

Our Patch colleagues in Newtown, Conn. are reporting on this tragedy thoroughly -- the victims, after all, are their friends and neighbors -- so we refer you to their site for complete coverage.

Here are some of their stories:

  • Sandy Hook Elementary School's principal is being remembered as warm and selfless.
  • The community is described as being in "sheer shock."
  • The town's religious leaders are holding special services.
  • A school psychologist -- the mother-in-law of a Patch writer - was killed.

President Barack Obama spoke about the shooting but cut his remarks short as he fought back tears.

Visit this Patch forum to share your comments and condolences.

Schools in Northampton and Lehigh counties held "active shooter" drills earlier this year to be prepared for such a horrific rampage. Parkland School District even had a scare in September when a teacher saw a student who looked like he might be a gunman.

Here are tips from Lehigh Valley's KidsPeace for helping families and kids cope with the shooting tragedy.

Abortion, hate, separation of church and state, prayer in school, condoms, American's United, ACLU, youth sex, rich and taxes, WOW, you seem to be a hater, get some help! This is a sad tragic time, not to be used for your hate!

Let's revisit the Second Amendment...I feel this is the core problem on what is ailing us about gun violence...Some politicians say it is not absolute.

I agree with you. Sex education is encouraging sex! This society is under the thumb of something horrible! People eat lumps of burnt flesh,(they call it meat; well why not eat it raw? that proves not for human consumption). Animal victims, who smile, cry, think [ I can prove they reason] they're emotions and so compassionate, empathetic too. Just so you know, the 'news' is to harm our subconcious mind; make us programmable to more of those violent stories which are staged--made up and shown as true. [look up HSEEP] <---wait till you see the domestic terrorism they follow. There's wonderful things being hidden too; I think our energy can be used to alter the way this has been going; too. Example: Did you ever notice toothpaste has rat poison in it? now they're making bubble gum flavor for the kids). What about drinking water with flouride. What kind of place is this!? It's human though, not some alien or lizard people,as they'd like the public to think). Take care; I felt you were the sort I can share this with.

Dear Mr. Salcedo, What if, the story was untrue? What if information was used to control societies opinion; out look; morality? What if I told you, as an example, JFK was never assassinated? Well? there are videos on you tube; check out Jackie's gloves; the car; JFK; not one spec of <blood>. Look @ him opening his shirt out ::::pops::::a shiney gold disk that adheres to his head. Jackie pushes him off of her, scrambles on the trunk to retreive the device that broke into pieces, as a secret service man has his hand out & orders "'give that to me!" What if, I told you Marilyn Monroe:.:The Vietnam Dragon Lady:.was played by Jackie? Well, her voice; her romantic interests; & same c-scar on her stomach area. Note: her ears covered by the dark wig., Her teeth also have this covering. Well, sleep on that then I was guess, one would say 'If that's true, what else is true?" Are dinosaurs real? What a ridiculous story better to deluded the public, mold them psychiatrically, subconcious mind is powerful. Have you noticed Vatican City in Rome; has a statue of the pineal gland [sub.mind]there? Did you know Washington, DC used to be called Rome, Maryland? Take care.Just some 'fun facts'.

Why stop at just the 2nd? Hopefully, you aren't just picking out the one that you disagree with? Are the rest of them OK with you? What if they aren't OK with me? Or my neighbor? Just get rid of them and have no structure? Then we can come here once a week and YOU can tell us what is right or wrong?
