Connecticut Fugitive Arrested in Hellertown

Hellertown Police say Joel DeJesus, of Allentown, is a wanted fugitive from Connecticut. DeJesus was arrested in the borough June 11.

An Allentown man wanted in Connecticut for a parole violation stemming from a 1994 armed robbery was arrested in Hellertown June 11, borough police announced in a press release Wednesday.

Police say Joel DeJesus, of the 800 block of North Fourth Street, Allentown, was stopped at 6:38pm on West Water Street.

According to police, DeJesus was driving without a license and "possessed forged inspection and emissions stickers which were affixed to his vehicle's windshield."

At the time of the traffic stop, police say they discovered that DeJesus is wanted by Connecticut authorities.

He was subsequently arrested, arraigned by District Judge Gay Elwell on charges of forged documents and driving without a license, and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail and on a detainer from the Connecticut Adult Probation Department, police said.
