Charges Dropped Against Man Who Removed Legion's Flag

Baron Chase, of Hellertown, was charged with trespassing and other offenses after he took down the U.S. flag at the borough's American Legion Post 397 in February.

Charges against a Hellertown man who said he removed an American Legion flag from its pole in February because it wasn't appropriately illuminated in the night have been dropped, according to an article published by the Express-Times.

Barred from coming onto local Legion property, Baron Chase had been charged with trespassing and other offenses, but the newspaper reported that District Judge David Tidd ruled Hellertown's Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post 397 failed to prove it had properly notified Chase that his membership had ended before the incident occurred.
