Borough Resident Allegedly Chased Man With Knife

A Hellertown man threatened to kill a woman and her boyfriend as he brandished a 4-inch, single-edge hunting knife, and at one point chased the boyfriend around a home’s basement with the knife, court records say.

The records do not specify the relationship between the suspect, Russell Luke Dimmick, 30, and the woman, identified as Kristy Dimmick.

But Northampton County property records say the home involved, at 502 Henry St. in the borough, is owned by Luke and Kristy Dimmick. And a criminal complaint in the case lists Russell Dimmick’s address as 502 Henry St.

Hellertown Police Patrolman Tim Piotrowski, who filed the criminal complaint, said he arrived at the Henry Street home shortly before 6pm Sunday--almost three hours after the alleged incident.

According to the complaint:

Piotrowski spoke to Kristy Dimmick and her boyfriend, Robert T. Rapp III. Both said Russell Dimmick was “gathering belongings” around 3pm while they were in the basement. He entered the basement from the garage area, wielding the hunting knife.

Dimmick chased Rapp around the basement, threatening to kill him. Kristy Dimmick, meanwhile, ran upstairs to get her cell phone.

Russell Dimmick followed her and threatened to kill her and Rapp if they were at the home when he returned. Russell Dimmick then left.

Piotrowski was still at the home when Dimmick returned--he had been taken there by a friend. The officer took Dimmick into custody and retrieved the knife from the friend.

Dimmick was charged with two counts each of aggravated assault, terroristic threats and simple assault.

He was arraigned Sunday night by District Judge Todd Strohe of Bangor and committed to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $20,000 bail.
