Borough Resident Accused of Choking Man, Sitting on His Head

Vincent La Volpe Jr., 25, of the 1600 block of Main Street, has been charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

A Hellertown man was jailed a week ago after allegedly choking and assaulting another man.

Vincent La Volpe Jr., 25, of the 1600 block of Main Street, was charged with aggravated assault, simple assault and harassment.

According to court records, police were called to La Volpe's home late on the afternoon of Friday, Jan. 10 for a dispute.

Police said La Volpe told the responding officer the fight had started when he learned the other man was texting a friend about their relationship problems and tried to take the man's cell phone.

Their argument became physical, and La Volpe allegedly choked the man and at one point sat on his head.

La Volpe was arraigned before on-duty District Judge Jackie Taschner of Palmer Township and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $75,000 bail.
