A Hellertown man is accused of firing a handgun near a woman's ear during an argument in the borough.
Dennis Wiedmann, 55, of the 1600 block of Bleyler Street, was charged Tuesday with aggravated assault, simple assault, disorderly conduct, reckless endangerment, harassment and DUI.
According to police, Wiedmann and the woman got into an argument at his home Tuesday evening.
He pulled out a .44-caliber handgun and fired it near her head, causing her to temporarily lose her hearing, police said.
When officers arrived, they allegedly found Wiedmann intoxicated in his SUV.
Court records say investigators found the gun and a spent casing.
Wiedmann was arraigned before on-duty District Judge John Capobianco in Nazareth and sent to Northampton County Prison in lieu of $50,000 bail.
