The decomposed body that was discovered by hunters near Tannersville, Monroe County, earlier this week has been positively identified as 64-year-old Joseph E. Cherepko of Hellertown, the Pocono Record reported Thursday.

According to the article published by the newspaper, coroner Bob Allen determined that Cherepko—who disappeared about two months ago and was reportedly known to visit the Tannersville area—had died from exposure.

The Express-Times reported earlier this week that he was found next to a quilt, as though he had been sleeping in the woods near the Tannersville Cranberry Bog Preserve, which is off Hallet Road in Pocono Township.
