Block Watch Will Host State Police Guest Speaker

Block watch leader Officer Tim Piotrowski, of the Hellertown Police Department, recently announced that a Pennsylvania State Police representative will discuss transient criminals and contractor scams at the group's April 25 meeting.

The Hellertown Block Watch group will host a special guest at its bimonthly meeting this Wednesday, April 25, at 7pm in .

Officer Tim Piotrowski, who , recently announced that a representative from the Pennsylvania State Police will discuss transient criminals and their schemes in a 40-minute presentation designed to help residents detect suspicious behavior.

Piotrowski stressed that spring is typically the time of year when contractor-type scammers begin to target residential areas, and the elderly are particularly vulnerable to their ploys.

Piotrowski said that Block Watch is also seeking captains for neighborhood zones it hopes to establish throughout Hellertown.

Each volunteer captain will help monitor and report suspicious activity in his or her neighborhood directly to the Hellertown Police Department.

Block watch meetings are held every other month, on the fourth Thursday of the month. Meetings are open to the public.
