Bank Employee Accused of Misappropriating $17,000

Lower Saucon Township police say bank employee Catherine Eckrode, of Allentown, used some of the stolen money to purchase a GMC Envoy.

An employee of a Lower Saucon Township bank has been accused of misappropriating $17,000, township police reported this afternoon.

Catherine Eckrode, of North 21st Street in Allentown, is accused of misappropriating funds on three different occasions from the branch at 3495 Route 378, Lower Saucon.

According to police, on one occasion Eckrode misappropriated funds in order to purchase a 2005 GMC Envoy from Kelly Car and Truck in Emmaus.

Police said they began an investigation after the bank reported a suspected theft by Eckrode, who has been charged with three counts of theft and receiving stolen property.

After being arraigned before District Justice Roy Manwaring, Eckrode's bail was set at $25,000 unsecured, police added.
