Another Deer Struck on I-78 in Lower Saucon

Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast said Sunday that a motorist struck a deer on I-78 eastbound in Lower Saucon Township early Sunday morning.

Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast said Sunday that a motorist struck a deer on I-78 eastbound in Lower Saucon Township early Sunday morning.

State police on Tuesday reported two car vs. deer strikes on the section of interstate that passes through the township.

In a news release about Sunday's accident, police said a Somerville, N.J., man was driving near mile marker 70.6 when a deer entered the roadway from the south berm at about 7:44 a.m.

The 20-year-old man—who was driving a 2009 Ford 350—struck the animal, causing disabling damage to his vehicle's front end and radiator, police said.

There were no injuries reported, but the truck had to be towed from the scene, police added.

Deer strikes in Pennsylvania typically peak in October and November, according to PennDOT.
