Ag Dept. Contacted About Loose Cows, Police Say

Lower Saucon Township Police say officers have responded to nine incidents involving loose cows owned by Christine Hess, of the 1900 block of Waldheim Road, since June 7.

Lower Saucon Township Police say they have contacted the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture about a cow owner whose animals have allegedly wandered into Flint Hill Road on numerous occasions and posed a threat to motorists.

In a news release Tuesday, police said officers have responded to nine incidents involving a cow or cows in the roadway since June 7.

Police said Christine Hess, 67, of the 1900 block of Waldheim Road, Lower Saucon Township, has been cited for township nuisance ordinance (animal confinement) violations because of the alleged incidents.

On June 10, police said two cows were found "across the street" from their pasture. Officers then returned the cows to Hess, police added.
