5 Accidents in Snow Reported in Lower Saucon

Lower Saucon Township Police responded to numerous accidents as snow was falling on area roads Monday night.

As moderate snow fell across the Saucon Valley Monday evening, Lower Saucon Township Police say they responded to a number of accidents that occurred amid the icy conditions.

According to police department press releases, officers responded to the following crashes:

  • Wilhelm Road at Wassergass Road, 6:12 p.m.: Police say Troy Jay Heffelfinger, of the 400 block of Morning Star Road, Lower Saucon Township, was southbound on Wilhelm Road when he attempted to stop at Wassergass Road and "slid on the snow-covered roadway into the side of another vehicle." Police said Heffelfinger will be cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.
  • Near 2036 Riverside Drive, 6:36 p.m.: Police say Juan Ramon Cruz Jr., of the 300 block of East Market Street, Bethlehem, was westbound on Riverside Drive when he lost control of his vehicle in the area of 2036 Riverside Drive and struck a utility pole, shearing it off. Police said Cruz was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed.
  • Mountain Drive South at Seidersville Road, 6:55 p.m.: Police say Baiping Dong, 29, of the first block of Duh Drive, Bethlehem, was stopped at a stop sign when her vehicle was struck from behind by Kiasha R. Shipman, of the 200 block of Red School Lane, Phillipsburg, N.J. Police said Shipman will be mailed a citation for following too closely.
  • Seidersville and Hickory Hill Roads, 7:15 p.m.: Police say Austin J. El-Bakri, of the 100 block of S. Eighth Street, Allentown, was driving "at a speed that was not reasonable for the road conditions" when his vehicle slid off the road and into a tree as he was turning from Hickory Hill Road onto Seidersville Road. There were no injuries reported, but El-Bakri's vehicle was towed from the scene and he was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed, police said.
  • Route 378 near Colesville Road, 7:25 p.m.: Police say Timothy A. Prendergast, of the first block of Downey Drive, Horsham, was driving "at a speed that was greater than prudent for the conditions" when he lost control of his vehicle on the snow-covered road, crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic and struck a curb. There were no injuries reported, but Prendergast's vehicle was towed from the scene and he was cited for Driving Vehicle at Safe Speed, police said.
