$3,000 in Copper Stolen from Williams Cell Tower, Police Say

Approximately $3,000 in copper plates and ground wire was stolen from a Williams Township cell phone tower sometime between July 18 and Wednesday, according to state police at Belfast.

Approximately $3,000 in copper plates and ground wire was stolen from a Williams Township cell phone tower sometime between July 18 and Wednesday, state police at Belfast announced Thursday in a news release.

According to police, "someone or persons entered a fenced area" around the tower at 425 Raubsville Road to get access to the valuable metal.

"Entry may have been made by climbing under a gap in the fence, in the back corner," police said.

Anyone with information about the theft of the copper is asked to call Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast at 610-759-6106.
