Pennsylvania State Police at Belfast said two motorists struck deer in separate incidents on Interstate 78 in Lower Saucon Township early Tuesday.

Police said the first accident occurred at 6:34 a.m. at mile marker 64.2 on I-78 westbound.

In that accident, a 28-year-old Pen Argyl woman who was driving a 2014 Dodge Charger struck a deer that came across the grassy median and into the highway's left travel lane, police said.

The woman was able to pull onto the road's shoulder, and although no injuries were reported, her vehicle had to be towed, according to police.

In the second reported accident, police said a 55-year-old Boyertown woman struck a deer at eastbound mile marker 64 at 6:58 a.m.

Police said the deer she struck was moving northbound across the roadway when the impact occurred.

The woman wasn't injured, but her 2004 Volkswagen Passat had to be towed, police said.
