The Teachers Pay was frozen 4 times in 10 years is Hardly the Truth!

It is a shame that the PSEA position posted on oursaucon.com is so inaccurate.  To simplify the teacher's pay has 3 components. COLA (cost of Living), Step (years 1-14 each year a teacher moves up) and Column (when a teacher takes courses and moves to a higher pay due to the credits earned).

In the 10 years in question, the teachers were only held in a Step 2 times. They Still got a raise! The only other years are last year and so far this year.  These are true freezes but the teachers have it totally in their power to accept an average raise of 3.8% this year.  Referring to the table below, teachers received generous salary increases every year from 2000-2001 until 2011-2012. The only year they did not see an increase was last year when the contract had expired. Further they were they only group in Saucon that refused to a salary freeze in 2012-2013  so they were frozen (not by choice) because they had no contract.
