Tea Party Mission

Tea Party’s Mission

Letter to the Editor:

This is my first letter or posting regarding elections. I could not let a misconception continue.  A number of years ago, a group of people started to attend Saucon Valley School Board meetings.  After the second meeting, I approached the group and ask about them.  I found out that they were Tea Party members,  and that the group has decided to focus on local boards.  One of these members was Bryan Eichfeld and another was the leader at that time of LV Tea Party.  Local school boards have large taxing authority and these individuals were watching us.  Throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Tea Party candidates are running and winning.

A few years later, Bryan Eichfeld ran for the School Director position and won. At the polls, I asked Eichfeld why he failed to disclose his ties to the Tea Party. His response was “ No one would vote for me.”  I told him that it was deceitful to run under the radar with that group’s agenda.

This election, he has recruited two more “conservatives” to run for the School Board.  There is no way to know if they are active with the Tea Party since it does not publish their membership rosters.  However, both Eichfeld and Inghrim are supporting these candidates. Both of these men have worked with the Tea Party on education and finance issues.

The School Board is a serious position that takes commitment and effort to learn complicated laws and educational policy.  These men have rarely, if ever, attended our meetings. In fact, one of these men actually had to ask me at the polls, how long the term was for the position he was running!

You will have to be the judge if having these men on our Board is good for Saucon Valley, not just for our schools, but our community.

It has been my honor and privilege to serve on your School Board.

Sandra Miller

School Director
