Zigrida M. Ziedonis, 83, Was Treasurer of Latvian Lutheran Church [Obituary]

Zigrida M. Ziedonis, 83, of Paradise Township, formerly of Fountain Hill, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at the Whitestone Health Care Center, Stroud Township.

Zigrida M. Ziedonis, 83, of Paradise Township, formerly of Fountain Hill, died Monday, Nov. 4, 2013 at the Whitestone Health Care Center, Stroud Township. She was the wife of the Rev. Dr. Arvids Ziedonis Jr., a professor emeritus at Muhlenberg College. She was born in Riga, Latvia on April 21, 1930 to the late Emelia (Stanislaus) and Hugo Max Vurlicer. Zigrida was the secretary/treasurer of Latvian Lutheran Church of Bucks County, Quakertown. She had also worked as a secretary for 20 years for the Latvian Relief Fund (Insurance Co.), Jenkintown, and was a past secretary at the Capital Building in Harrisburg. Zigrida was a faithful member of Latvian Lutheran Church of Bucks County, Quakertown, St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Applebachsville, and Morgenland Lutheran Church, Orefield.

SURVIVORS

In addition to her loving husband of 55 years last Aug. 23; children: Dr. Douglas M. Ziedonis and his wife Patrice of Boston, Mass., and their children Michelle and Mason, Rev. Dr. Ruth S. Ziedonis of Cresco, Eric A. Ziedonis of Cresco; brothers: Ginter Vurlicer and his wife Maureen of Clayton, N.C., Bernt Vurlicer and his wife Joan of Langhorne. She was predeceased by a brother: Walter Vurlicer.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 7, 2013 at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 837 Old Bethlehem Road, Quakertown (Applebachsville), PA 18951. The calling hour will be followed by a service at 7 p.m. Another calling hour will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 8 at Morgenland Lutheran Church, 3120 Weidasville Road, Orefield, and will be followed by a service at 11 a.m. The interment will conclude services at Morgenland Church Cemetery Association, Lowhill Township.
