Walter A. Konieczny, 90, World War II Navy Veteran [Obituary]

Walter A. Konieczny, 90, of Hellertown, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill.

Walter A. Konieczny, 90, of Hellertown, died Tuesday, Nov. 19, 2013 at St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of the late of Josephine (Becker) Konieczny, who died Oct. 29, 2013. He was born in Sellersville on Oct. 28, 1923 to the late Andrew and Katherine (Shado) Konieczny. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Walter worked in Bethlehem Steel Aviation for 33 years until retiring. He previously worked at Hunter Spring Company, Lansdale, on the assembly line for eight years. He was a member of the Church of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus, Hellertown, where he served as Eucharistic Minister and past president of the Holy Name Society; St. Theresa's New Beginners Senior Citizens; and Edward H. Ackerman American Legion Post #397, Hellertown.

SURVIVORS

Children: Gregory W. at home, Constance D. Clement of Allentown; sister: Helen J. Janus of Sellersville; granddaughters: Kimberly A. Rosado and Katherine J. Holva; one great-granddaughter: Julena M. Coulter. He was predeceased by brothers: John E. and Stanley.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 22, 2013 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at the church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem.
