Stanley H. Wohlbach, 92, World War II Veteran and Avid Gardener

Stanley H. Wohlbach, 92, of Hellertown, formerly of Wassergass, Lower Saucon Township, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013.

Stanley H. Wohlbach, 92, of Hellertown, formerly of Wassergass, Lower Saucon Township, died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013 at VNA Hospice House of St. Luke's, Lower Saucon Township. He was the husband of Gladys (Hafner) Wohlbach. He was born in Lower Saucon Twp. on Oct. 27, 1920 to the late Dorsey M. and Mabel M. (Frey) Wohlbach. Stanley served our country faithfully in the U.S. Army as a member of the 886 Military Police during World War II. He worked at Laros Silk Mill, Bethlehem, until 1950. Then he was hired at the Bethlehem Steel in the shipping yard office, where he worked until his retirement in 1982. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Hellertown. For 60 years, Stanley served in many offices of Harmony Grange 1692 of Pennsville, and also the Lehigh Northampton Pomona Grange, where he was a chaplain. Also, he was a member of the JR 0.U.AM and Upper Saucon Senior Citizens, where he had served as president. Stanley was an award-winning exhibitor at the Allentown Fair for 60 years. He certainly enjoyed his gardening.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his spouse of 55 years; siblings: Helen M. Breisch of Easton, Leon D. of Hellertown. He was predeceased by brothers: Lester and Maynard; sisters: Edna Koder, Miriam Stever, Grace P. Crouse, Anna Judd, Gloria R. Wohlbach.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 2013, and from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The Friday morning calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m., with the Rev. Richard K. Brown II officiating. The interment will conclude services at Union Cemetery of Hellertown.
