Robert J. Takach, 88, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 at St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill.

Robert J. Takach, 88, of Bethlehem, died Tuesday, Dec. 31, 2013 at St. Luke's University Hospital, Fountain Hill. He was the husband of the late Beverly (Fischl) Takach, who died June 28, 2008. He was born in Fountain Hill on July 13, 1925 to the late Joseph and Margaret (Kauker) Takach. He served our country faithfully in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. Robert's legacy was as the founder of Arbor Fence Company, Bethlehem in 1955 and until his retirement. He was a member of East Hills Moravian Church, Bethlehem. He was a strong supporter of Penn State football, and enjoyed blackjack and horse racing for relaxation.

SURVIVORS

Loving sons: Robert D. (Susan Ann) of Fountain Hill, Joseph (Paige) of Virginia Beach, Va., Frank of Bethlehem; grandchildren: Dennis, Kerry and Kaleia; great-grandchildren: Aiden, Ryan, Ivaniel Jr. He was predeceased by siblings: Donald and Ann Marie "Snookie."

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 11 a.m. The interment with military honors will conclude services at Holy Saviour Cemetery, Bethlehem. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
