Richard A. Parsons, 81, Formerly of Hellertown [Obituary]

Richard A. Parson of Port Orange, Fla., died Thursday, June 27, 2013.

Richard A. Parsons, 81, of Port Orange, Fla., formerly of Hellertown, died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his residence. He was the husband of Betty J. (Krueger) Parsons. He was born in Fountain Hill on Jan. 17, 1932 to the late Myron D. and Irene R. (Bachman) Parsons. Dick worked as an Industrial Specialist for the U.S. Dept. of Defense for 20 years, which included overseas assignments, retiring in 2004. He previously worked for Teleflex Inc., Limerick, as a Production Manager for eight years and for the former Hellertown Manufacturing as a Night Supervisor for 16 years. He was a member of First United Church of Christ, Hellertown, where he was a Past Consistory Member and Sunday School Superintendent; former member of the Saucon Valley Lions Club; Charter Member of Saucon Valley Jaycees; Recipient of the Young Man of the Year 1967; Past President of the Saucon Valley PTA; helped organize the American Field Services (for exchange students); and a member of National Active and Retired Federal Employees Association, Chapter 1844.

SURVIVORS

In addition to his loving wife of 61 years; children: Dennis A. Parsons (Debra) of Bethlehem, Patti A. Frankenfield (David J.) of Winston-Salem, N.C., Debra L. Rausch (Lance) in Col., Douglas K. Parsons (Janice) of Hellertown; siblings: Mary J. Freese of Takoma Park, Md., John M. Parsons of Salt Lake City, Utah; grandchildren: Christopher, Josiah, Ben, Kevin, Jonathan, Krysta, Tess, Jake, Nicholas, Shannon; great-grandchildren: Ariel, Randy, Tayler, Paige, Nathan, Malachi, Sydney, Chase, Reece, Sawyer.

SERVICE

Family and friends are invited to call from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at the Heintzelman Funeral Home Inc., 326 Main St., Hellertown. The calling hour will be followed by the service at 1 p.m. The interment will be private at Union Cemetery of Hellertown. Online expressions of sympathy can be recorded at www.heintzelmancares.com.
