Sophie A. Harvilla, 87, of Freemansburg, died Thursday, Nov. 24, 2011 at Lehigh Valley Health Network-Muhlenberg, Bethlehem. She was the wife of the late Steven J. Harvilla. She was born in New Haven, Conn., on May 29, 1924 to the late Pauline (Atamonzuck) and Alexander Prosk. Sophie worked as a waitress at the former Bethlehem Steel Club for many years. She then owned and operated Sophie Harvilla Beauty Salon in Bethlehem and Freemansburg. She was a member of the , Hellertown, where she had sung in its choir. She was also involved in Cursillo, enjoyed square dancing, and her German shepherd, Sheba.
Loving children: Anne T. Parks of Allentown, Stephen A. Harvilla of Hellertown, Nancy T. Ellis of Spencer, Ind.; grandchildren: Lee Ann Aldridge, Kurt Parks, Kimberly Rohrbach; great-grandchildren: Michael and Paul Hepner; and great-great-grandchildren: Olivia, Alexsis and Carissa Hepner. She was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.
Family and friends are invited to call from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 28, 2011, and from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the , 326 Main St., Hellertown. A mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. at the church, 1408 Easton Road, Hellertown. The interment will conclude services at Bethlehem Memorial Park.
